Missouri Departments

Missouri Main Web Page - The official state page, including a list of state agencies

Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) (pronounced "DEH-see") Oversees Missouri's public education system

Department of Mental Health (DMH) - The Agency that helps with problems associated with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance addiction in Missouri.

Missouri Protection and Advocacy Services - Provides legal advocacy services to protect the rights of individuals with disabilities, especially with regard to state agencies.

Department of Social Services (DSS) - Coordinates programs to provide public assistance to children and their parents, access to health care, services to the elderly, child support enforcement assistance and assistance to troubled youth. Some programs give financial assistance and services. Others work to reduce financial dependency of the citizens on government.

Missouri Assistive Technology Program - Part of the Missouri Office of Administration that provides information on finding, funding, and using assistive technology.

Governor's Council on Disability - Part of the Missouri Office of Administration, the Governor's Council promotes employment of people with disabilities and compliance by state agencies with disability regulations. The website includes extensive links to legislative information (especially the Olmstead Report), disability resources, and disability initiatives in Missouri.

Head Injury Advisory Council - Appointed to promote, study, review, and recommend policies to prevent traumatic head injuries and to restore independent and productive lifestyles after traumatic head injury.

Iowa Departments

Iowa State Web Page - The main home page for the State of Iowa

Iowa Division of Vocational Rehabilitation - The agency within DE that helps people with disabilities find employment.

Bureau of Children, Family, and Community Services (CFCS) - Agency which covers special education and educational accommodations for various disabilities. Located within the Division of Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education in the Department of Education

Iowa Department for the Blind (DFB) - Provides information and services to Iowans who are blind. Also works to educate the public that with supports, we can reduce blindness to a physical nuisance.

Department of Human Rights (DHR) Promotes equal access to work, services, and opportunity. Includes (among others) the following agencies: Deaf Services Commission, Commission of Persons with Disabilities.

Nebraska Departments

Nebraska Agency List - The official state page

Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) - Oversees Nebraska's public education system

Nebraska Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired - The agency that provides employment and independent living services to people with vision loss

Nebraska State Rehabilitation Council - A consumer group that advises Nebraska VR.

Neb Health And Human Services System (HHS) - Oversees Nebraska's health and human services system to maximize local determination

Neb Commission For The Deaf And Hard Of Hearing (NCDHH) - Services for people with deafness or hearing impairment.

Kansas Departments

Kansas Agency List - The official list of state agencies

Kansas Department Of Social And Rehabilitation Services (SRS) - Oversees human social services and rehabilitation in Kansas. Includes Kansas Vocational Rehabilitation, Kansas Services for the Blind, and Kansas Rehabilitation Services Commission.

Kansas Commission On Disability Concerns - A list of ADA agencies and resources, part of the Division of Commerce
