2.04 - Getting Ready To Start Working With the Model: Phase 2, Page 1
Phase 2:
Once the person with the disability determines his or her current status in relation to the goal criteria, he or she begins to develop a plan of action. The plan of action might consist of learning a specific skill or modifying the environment to remove barriers. The plan of action, in effect, becomes a plan of learning. Ideally, the plan of learning would be self-directed by the person with the disability. Self-instructed employment supports might include self-scheduling, self-instruction, antecedent cue regulation, choice-making, and self-monitoring. However, some skills and strategies may require facilitator direction. The important thing to remember is that the plan is designed by the person with the disability.
Question 5: The first question under Phase 2, “What actions can I take to reach my career or employment goal?” looks at the current status or situation. There are three objectives that can be used to help answer the first question. The first objective consists of listing options.
